Echoes in Space

Echoes in Space is an interactive sound installation built on the phenomenon of audio feedback. A microphone is hidden inside a pendulum — by swinging it over the speakers on the floor, the audience composes a soundscape for a movement that is normally purely visual.

Description

Echoes in Space is an interactive sound installation that uses the phenomenon of feedback that occurs when a microphone comes close to a loudspeaker. The microphone is placed inside a pendulum.

By swinging the pendulum over the speakers lying on the floor, the audience can create a soundscape for the pendulum, whose movement is normally purely visual. By changing the pendulum's rope length, the audience can further influence the sound: the higher the pendulum, the higher the sound becomes.
